And Then There Was Light

Finally – after twenty-four hours without power – we can function without candles throughout the whole house. It was fun for one night – a novelty – but we weren’t exactly looking forward to another twenty-four hours without power. The repairs are only temporary, so our landlord has to get on to someone about more permanent repairs, but at least I can recharge my mobile phone now! It’s amazing to think how much we rely on electricity and how difficult and inconvenient life becomes when we can’t just flick on a switch. I was just talking to Qurban and we were laughing at how he’s become so used to having electricity. The village he comes from has never had electricity and probably won’t have it for quite some time to come.
